When you think of vacation, what do you envision? Sun, waves, good food, change of scenery? This is what you’ll find in the winter at Cove Point Lodge. The twinkle of the sun off the waves of the unfrozen lake is mesmerizing in the winter as well as in the summer.
Vacationers in the winter avoid “peak season” and experience less traffic, lower rates, and an opportunity to relax. If the weather is cold outside, you can enjoy a fire inside, a soak in the hot tub, or sit in the sauna. Sip some hot tea, hot coffee, or hot chocolate and melt the stress away in a secluded retreat designed with the feeling of the woods, with the conveniences of home.
Driving or walking through the woods, you’ll have unobstructed views that are covered by leaves in the summer, giving you the opportunity to see the shore in a new way. Sometimes the ice sheets pile up on the point and provide a landscape for creative photos. Occasionally, Lake Superior will freeze over near the shore, and while it is not recommended that you venture out onto the lake, it is an eerie feeling much like the kids saw in the movie “Frozen” right before Anna is turned to solid ice.
So, why wait for summer for a vacation, when a winter vacation might be just what you need?
