When you’re out enjoying spring on the North Shore, hike these paths to avoid mud baths! All areas have paved trails to help keep your heart happy and your feet dry.

Enjoy a short stroll under tall pines along Burlington Bay on the paved Sonju Trail in Two Harbors

From Cove Point Lodge, head south on Highway 61 for 23 miles. Just before the Two Harbors Visitor’s Center take a left and park in the Burlington Bay parking lot. From there you can take a leisurely stroll along paved pathways that wind past playgrounds, parks, and a lighthouse.

Hike the Gitchi-Gami Bike trail into Iona’s Beach

From Cove Point Lodge take Highway 61 South for 7.5 miles and take a left into the parking lot for Iona’s Beach Scientific Nature Area. You will find a unique beach made of beautifully salmon-colored rock. This Scientific Nature Area is a hidden gem!

Enjoy a stop in the museum at Split Rock State Park

From Cove Point Lodge, head south on Highway 61 drive 5 miles to the entrance to Split Rock State Park.

Have a lakeside Picnic in Tofte Town Park

From Cove Point Lodge, head north on Highway 61 for 32.5 miles. Just after the post office sign and before the main entrance to Bluefin Bay, turn right on Tofte Park Road. The parking lot is located at 7240 Tofte Park Road off Highway 61.
