A colorful drive along Highway 61. A bit of a nip in the morning air. A reason to bring your favorite sweater—and take the scenic route!
Fall has arrived on the North Shore, and here at Cove Point Lodge, we’re enjoying every bit of it.
Maples bring shades of red and orange to the hillsides. Birch and aspen add their gold. And Lake Superior brings the blue, stretching out beyond the shoreline and giving us something beautiful to watch between adventures.
It’s a pretty good combination.
Come for the color. Stay lakeside.
There are plenty of ways to spend a fall day around Beaver Bay.
Follow the Superior Hiking Trail through colorful woods and up to rocky overlooks. Explore Gooseberry Falls, spend an afternoon at Split Rock Lighthouse State Park, or head farther up the shore to Tettegouche. Pack a trail lunch, bring a few layers, and leave yourself time to stop along the way.
Some days call for a longer hike. Others call for a leisurely drive along Highway 61 and inland rural roads, with a few pullovers and no particular hurry. We’ve got a great map to help you navigate the north shore.
Then come back to Cove.
Trade your hiking boots for something comfortable, pour a glass of wine, grab a cocktail at the lodge bar, or make your own hot chocolate – and find a place to settle in and watch the waves roll in.
A little adventure. A little lodge time.
One of our favorite things about fall is how easily a day can hold both.
Start with coffee and a look at the lake. Head out to find a waterfall, wander a trail, or visit a favorite North Shore stop. Come back in time for a swim, a warm-up in the sauna, or a soak in the hot tub.
Then let the evening unfold.
Read a few chapters by the lodge fireplace. Spend some time painting or playing a game together. Enjoy a good dinner and stay at the table a little longer.
You can fill your day with fresh air and fall color, then spend the evening with very little on the agenda.
There’s room for both here.
Find your favorite fall view
The North Shore gives you plenty of reasons to pause.
Golden leaves against an evergreen hillside. A waterfall framed by autumn branches. That first wide-open glimpse of Lake Superior as you round a bend.
But some of the views you’ll remember most might be right here at Cove Point Lodge.
A morning sky over the water. Waves rolling into the cove. The lake changing color as the daylight fades.
Every lodge room overlooks Lake Superior, so enjoying the view can be as simple as taking your coffee to the window. Our cottages offer space to gather, settle in, and make a few fall memories together—with the comforts of the lodge close by.
You may arrive with a list of places to explore and find yourself saving a little extra time just to be here.
Make a little time for fall
The days are getting shorter, but there’s still plenty to enjoy.
Take the long way. Stop for the view. Walk a little farther—or head back early for a favorite chair by the fire.
Come for the leaves, stay for the lake, and enjoy a few days at your own pace.
Cove Point Lodge is calling – now is a great time to go!
