On a typical day you might observe the following… In the early morning hours a photographer waiting for that very special sunrise through the fog shot, while in the lodge two guys are meeting their charter captain for a day of salmon fishing on lake superior. Out on the deck a couple are having a cup of coffee, while others are out-side the main entry getting their bikes ready for a ride to Split Rock Lighthouse. At breakfast tables some guests are talking about the incredible hiking trails while others are going to Palisade Head to do some rock climbing on the cliffs that rise directly out of Lake Superior. Still others plan to go into nearby Beaver Bay for some shopping and to return early to the lodge to read a favorite book. At Cove Point Lodge everyday brings new adventures and peaceful relaxation.
With the property located right off this 286-mile trail this is truly a hikers delight. The footpath largely follows the rocky ridgeline above Lake Superior on Minnesota’s North Shore from Duluth to the Canadian border.
This park is situated on the North Shore of Lake Superior. Perhaps best known for its historic lighthouse, this park offers numerous recreational opportunities. Visitors can cart-in their supplies to pristine campsites along Lake Superior. Scenic trails along the lake link up to the spectacular Superior Hiking Trail.
