Twin baby moose, no ice this winter on Lake Superior, and an early spring are all creating an exciting time on the North Shore.

It has been a strange time up on the North Shore. We have not seen any ice on Lake Superior this winter, Spring arrived on about April 29 and we have been in the 40 degree range since that time.

The XC equipment has been put away, and our guests are on the trails and going over to the Beaver River to watch the annual gush of snow melt water into Lake Superior. The photos that the guests are bringing back to the lodge are fantastic.

Up on highway 1 folks have seen twin baby moose (probably about 200 pounds each!). Wolf are common now and we have about a dozen deer feeding down at the lodge in the evening just outside of our dining room window.

We now have COVE CAM which is an internet based camera that allows you to see a current view of the lake and the cove. We also have the official wave forecast for Lake Superior which allows an interactive view of the entire lake over the next several days. Our guests love this new technology.

As always, Lake Superior and the North Shore is always changing. You never know what to expect. Join in the adventure....we hope to see you soon.
